The Preservation Fund
In 2008, the Preservation Foundation was created to preserve the Wright-designed synagogue and interpret the iconic structure for a wide variety of audiences. Gifts to this fund will support preservation projects that have been designated most needed to support the sustainability of the iconic building.

Frank Lloyd Wright Furniture Restoration Project
This fund supports the conservation and rehabilitation of furniture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright specifically for Beth Sholom Synagogue and in use there since its opening in 1959. The original furniture, particularly on the bimah or reader’s platform, has incurred damage from regular ritual use, and from UV light exposure. This rehabilitation project will be the first extensive conservation effort of this furniture and is thus an integral part of the conservation efforts for the future preservation and continued use, according to its original purpose.

Beth Sholom Documentary Fund
The film Beth Sholom: Temple of Light, Frank Lloyd Wright, Rabbi Mortimer Cohen and the Building of an American Synagogue tells the remarkable story of a dream and of a relationship. This acclaimed documentary film is currently shown in the Beth Sholom Visitor’s Center. Funds are needed to lengthen the film, allowing it to be shown and distributed to broader audience through film festivals and public television.

Art and Events Fund
Beth Sholom is home to art, music, and lectures that create new and highly engaging interpretations and experiences of the building for contemporary audiences. These programs allow visitors to engage with the building in new ways and also bring Beth Sholom to broader audiences. Gifts to this fund will support future programming. If you are interested in sponsoring a specific program, event or exhibition, please contact Jill Rosen at jrosen@bethsholompreservation.org or 215-887-1342 x227.
